Handsomest Drowned Man

Gabriel Garcia Marquez composed a numerous of astonishing short stories including “The Handsomest Drowned Man In The World”. This story has a big impact on the reader because of the different components it depicts. One of the most outstanding elements within the story is the emotions characters show towards the leading character. The leading character was a drowned man named Esteban who was found near shore in a small village. The feelings people in the story portray towards the main character are admiration, jealousy, and mourning.

Marquez initially acquainted with the sentiment of admiration which was communicated by the women in the village. These women were astounded by this drowned man. One of the segments that brought about their admiration was the man's beauty in which they portrayed him as the tallest, most grounded, and most attractive man they've ever seen. They're admiration lead them to making new clothing for Esteban in light of the fact that they were intrigued by his size and good looks. The men in the story were envious of the consideration that Esteban was getting from the women. As expressed in the story the men thought the fuss was just women's frivolity. The man were desirous of the actions the women made towards Esteban. In the story they felt doubt and asked why the women had so many decorations for only an outsider. The men in the story were overwhelmed by Esteban's presence and wanted him out the village for good . They were restless to release him and dispose of him into the ocean. They wanted to tie an anchor so that the man would sink in the deepest wave and never appear on shore.Their jealousy lead them to their determination of getting rid of esteban.
