Harp seal have been known to be the victims of Canada's great seal hunt. This is a hunt powered and paid by the Canadian government where poachers kill baby harp seals. They kill the seal by whacking it with a club multiple times to stun them, collecting them, then skinning them. I feel that this is inhumane because of how slowly they are killed. 10 out of the ten students I surveyed said that Canada should stop this practice. According to a harp seals life 101 it says that there is a 25 percent chance the seals are skinned alive. I feel that this just gives the seal to much pain. These are only baby seals so this is going to lower their numbers. The hunters also throw the body's away without using any of it. This means that in 3 years there will be no more harp seals in Canada. I think that this is too much and will destroy Canada's ecosystem. Canada is the second largest breeding home which means this will be devastating to their species. I think maybe Canada should take a break from this and let the seals recover. This shows that the great seal hunt cannot
