Harriet Tubman Thesis

Everyone thinks they know who Harriet Tubman was, but do you know she was the first recorded African American woman to serve in the military (National Women's History Museum, 2002)? She had many roles during the 1800’s that significantly impacted the freeing of many black slaves. But she not only mastered the Underground Railroad but also strongly supported various organizations. In addition, Harriet was a woman who inspired social welfare by spreading justice to African Americans but also women. in Although history tends to outline her efforts alone, there are also many others who aid her making her the“Moses” in the eyes of many.

He was an African- American abolitionist leader in the north and also helped fugitives with finding the right resources (Maryland Public Television). In his life, he fought for stabilizing race relations and was inspired to document of slaves’ resistance to slavery. He was strongly involved in organizations that supported the freedom for slaves like the Pennsylvania Society for the Abolition of Slavery, Freedmen’s Aid Commission, Vigilance Committee, and the Underground railroad (Turner). His contributions are recognizable as he organized one of the first YMCAs for black youth community and managing orphan asylums and homes for the elderly and aged and many more. Like Harriet Frederick also did speeches promoting anti-slavery. Their relationship proceeded to the extent that during financial or circumstantial situations, Harriet was able to stay over at his house(http://www.visitharriettubman.com/pages.asp?pageid=95462). Not only did Frederick and Harriet supported similar ideas, he also thought of Harriet with the utmost respect. In Harriet’s book, Frederick’s letter writes “...It is to me a great pleasure and a great privilege to bear testimony for your character and your works, and to say to those to whom you may come, that I regard you in every way truthful and trustworthy” ( book).
