I am a very deserving candidate for the Edwin Harris Memorial Honor's Program Endowed Scholarship, for many reason.
The first reason that I am a deserving candidate is that I am a very hard worker. I strive my best to be the best version of myself that I can be. I push myself to make myself better, I never settle where I am. I always find something that needs improving. An example of me finding something that needs improving is my running. As I want to go into law enforcement I know that I will need to be in good shape. I absolutely hate running and I always struggled with it. I love accomplishing goals. One of my short term goals is to graduate from high school. While my long term goals are to graduate from college, and get a job at a police department. For my long term goals I have already done so much. I have participated in the Grand Rapids Police Department Explorer Program, Kent Career Technical Center Criminal Justice Program, and the Metro High School Police Academy. I am already preparing for my future and taking the steps to get to my future career. I am a very determinate person. I have worked so hard already to get to the point that I am at. I am pushing myself right now by going out and making opportunities for myself. A goal that took me over two years to completely was qualifying for regionals. You had to have four qualifying scores on an event to make it to regionals. My freshman and sophomore years, I did not make it to regionals. I was so discourage but I did not give up, I got in the gym and worked harder, because it was something that I really wanted. I eventually made it to regionals, my junior and senior year. I never gave up and it was an amazing feeling when I finally accomplished my goal of making it to regionals. This goal is very important because it would have been really easy to quit and give up.
