Although the background and setting of both narratives is different, each of them implement social problems that go hand in hand such as racism and gender equality. On the other hand, the author from Desiree’s baby portrays that racism is wrong, and that racial purity is not a measure of a person; love should supersede any prejudice.Evidently, the two of the stories present similar and equivalent themes, however the way they discussed such problems was divergent .
