Our society today is based on fear, ignorance, and most prevalent, hate. In our changing society, things that were once seen as preposterous and unthinkable, are now a normal occurrence, that people do not give more than a second thought. No matter the topic, hate and prejudice still manage to influence numerous decisions in every person’s lives. Whether the hate is about race, identity, or religion, people still find a way to judge and discriminate people for it. In the United States alone, there has been almost three hundred shootings so far in 2017. This fact should not be accepted in our country or any country and measures need to be taken in order to put a stop to this terrifying statistic. It is my assumption that the root cause of hate is ignorance, which is a true global issue. Biases and prejudices are typically passed down in families and sometimes are never broken. People’s misunderstanding of new topics forms a certain type of animosity towards that topic. Instead of learning or understanding a controversial topic, people quickly form judgements. When ignorance is not controlled, and hate runs rampant there is a high potential for a world of hurt for the people being singled out. …show more content…
People’s neglect for our planet leads to many detrimental effects on most people’s health and quality of life. Although most people do not downright hate the earth, they prioritize mundane things over the only object, that we know of, that sustains human life. Currently with, the numerous hurricanes destroying homes and lives as a result of rising ocean temperature, the detriments of global warming and pollution continue to pile up. People are ignorant and do not pay attention to the signs that the Earth cannot continue to maintain the destructive lifestyles that many humans
