Filipinos usually fight with me and my friends because we get paid more than them for the same work. I sometimes see some people from different races going on strikes trying to get equal pay, but I choose not to join in because there is always more workers to replace us. During my time here I met a very nice korean woman named Ja-kyung and we got along very well so we each exchanged some traditional recipes from our culture all the time. I shared how to make a Japanese rice cake called mochi, a triangle shaped salted ball of rice wrapped in noir called onigiri, and I told her about Obon dances and that we do them to honor the spirits of family members that passed away. Ja-kyung shared with me some korean dishes such as a fermented cabbage called Kimchi, grilled beef or pork short ribs marinated in shoyu, garlic, sugar, and sesame oil called Kalbi, and a dish called Bibimbap which is warm white rice topped with seasoned vegetables,chili pepper paste, shoyu, sliced meat and a raw of fried egg.
