This essay will be interpreting information from a diagram to create a response that organises inferences into a logical order. The next few paragraphs will examine why smoking rates have decreased between 1980 and 2004, the different classes of workers having different rates of smoking and the effects of smoking. So firstly, why have smoking rates decreased between 1980 and 2004?
Smoking rates have unquestionably decreased between 1980 and 2004. The government has introduced anti-smoking campaigns and smoking taxes causing the price of cigarettes to increase and the amount of smokers to decrease. One of the main reasons behind the decrease in smokers is The “National Tobacco Campaign” which aims to contribute to a reduction in the prevalence of adult and teenage daily smoking. Several marketing activities combine to engage with current smokers to encourage them to make a quit attempt, support current quitters in making their quit attempt and help them reduce their chance of relapse. Advertisements from this particular campaign are broadcasted all around the world to help people to quit smoking. However, even though smoking rates are decreasing, there is a clear difference between the types of workers who engage in smoking.
