One of the many decisions that nurses must make is how, when, and if they should delegate activities to others. The art of delegation is one of much importance. “Healthcare assistants (HCAs) are a vital part of the primary care nursing workforce and now provide a great proportion of hands-on care within general practice” (Bryant, 2015). HCAs provide nurses the ability and confidence to delegate certain tasks for their patients or even for themselves. However, nurses must choose what they decide to delegate wisely, as the primary priority for them should be the health, safety, and well being of their patients.
