Hearing Impairment and Learning in adult age, my own view like a Hearing impaired. I’m not born hearing impaired and I remember exactly the day when I became hearing impaired. The consequences of hearing loss are far from trivial, and the challenges are many, but we must not forget that being hearing impaired is not limited only to a pathology: it is also a culture! From a purely scientific point of view, the difference between the words "Deaf" and "Hearing Impaired" is essentially measures the different degrees of severity of hearing loss: it is said that a person is hard of hearing in cases of mild hearing loss or average, and is Deaf in cases of severe or profound deafness.
The border between the two words is subjective. In reality, there are several types of hearing loss: Become deaf: have lost hearing as a result of an accident. Some hard of hearing like me have difficulty sound out strings, especially if you are living in a country where the official language is not your mother tongue. Some hearing impaired practices sign language, I do not.
On the audiometric point of view, I am not deaf but consider myself occasionally, deaf in English. Hearing impaired has gradually passed into common usage because of advances in medicine and technology. It symbolizes the light of the vis-à-vis disability society. It is believed alleviate the harsh words complicating. Deaf, blind, elderly, mentally ill, people are ashamed to talk about us. As some Hearing impaired, I categorically refuse this euphemism: I claim my condition and I wear a Hearing Aids! The capital is there to show that I accept my condition.
The myth of the man who cannot understand and speak English in America. Imagine, in the class room at Mesa College (or any other location that suits you), hearing but don’t understand nothing. "It's horrible," hearing loss causes many difficulties, but we do not cut as much of the world! And it has its advantages. If I want to sleep quietly without being disturbed by the neighbors, I close my hearing aids – and I’m happy again! But, if there is a fire alarm at night, I’m in a big trouble.
The loss of spatial or confusion of sound sources: it is impossible to determine the origin of sounds. The banquet syndrome: the hearing aid does not filter sound among others. For example, in the bars, it is difficult to distinguish the voice of the caller of noise as the crowd, the music, the noise in the street ... Without filtering, Deaf sometimes difficult to tolerate this surplus mechanical noises and sometimes inaudible. Many people suffer from tinnitus and hyperacusis. This is one reason why some reject for hearing aids or in my case some selective use of hearing aids. Moreover, to compensate for these
