Have you ever gotten into an argument with someone over a school project? Chances are that you have, but why did you have the argument? It’s because you and your project members each had a different perspective of how the project should be. None of you could agree, everyone thought that their perception was superior. My opinion is that perception alters reality.
What you believe you see is wrong, you can have a false self-perception of yourself, or just see a simple illusion. He was depressed until someone told him, “Have you been working out, Dave? You look bigger” (line 29). Dave got home and looked at himself in a mirror, and he thought he did look bigger. Dave was ecstatic, he had actually gained weight. But later that night Dave realized he fooled himself, he had worn two T-shirts that day. Dave had thought of himself bigger than he actually was. Dave’s perception of himself was untrue. Another reason I don’t believe that what you perceive is real is because what you see could just be an illusion.
