This quote is important because it explains why Helen is so distant from others, why she lets no one in, and why she self hates. The killer resented her sister because of an incident that happened when her sister was 13. It also states the killer has killed before her suspected first victim sam. The killer killed her own mom and dad. She claims it was for her sister's sake, Helen states that she never wanted her sister to that, never wanted it to happen.
