Hemochromatosis was discovered by a group of scientist in California 1996. This disease is when you have too much iron in your body, also known as The Iron Storage Disease. Also Hemochromatosis is recessive This Disease is common in the United States.It is most common in Caucasians in Northern European. The disease is less common to African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and American Indians. The extra iron is stored in your organs, in your liver, heart, and pancreas. The extra Iron can severely damage those organs. It will lead to Cancer, Heart Arrhythmias,Diabetes mellitus, Irregular heartbeat or heart attack, etc. . This disease is caused by a genetic disorder. You can get this disease, when a person receives the imperfect gene from both of your parents so you may develop Hemochromatosis. When your baby is born and has Hemochromatosis the genetic disease is identified at birth. The number chromosomes Hemochromatosis is found in chromosomes number 6. Hemochromatosis has tons of symptoms which are Abdominal (belly) pain, feeling really tired, Shortness of breath, Gray or bronze colored skin and etc. …show more content…
Hemochromatosis may also produce the some of these symptoms:
Loss of menstrual periods or early menopause
Loss of sex drive (libido) or impotence
Loss of body hair
Shortness of breath
Although not a physical symptom, another possible indication of hemochromatosis is having an elevated liver enzyme test.
Advanced Symptoms
As the disease progresses, hemochromatosis may cause the following more serious problems:
Arthritis
Liver problems, such as cirrhosis (or scarring of the liver) and liver cancer
High blood sugar and diabetes
Abdominal (belly) pain that does not go away
Severe fatigue (feeling extremely tired and having a lack of
