Henry David Thoreau uses rhetorical questions to highlight how life is delicate to be squandering on material things, although they can be a clutch. Thoreau commences by asking the question, “but if we stay at home and mind our business, who will want railroads? People devote their lives to construct important things that nobody uses anymore, because of the disturbances in material things. He claims that not many people want to experience life anymore, since they are consumed in unnecessary objects. In addition, he demands the reader to be involved in their own lives. “Why should we live with such hurry and waste of life?” Thoreau places emphasis that individuals should slow down on the unimportant things and enjoy what life has to offer.
