Hepatitis-A is an inflammatory disease of the liver caused by a virus. Hepatitis is one of the most highly publicized viral diseases today. Hepatitis-A is very contagious viral disease. Hepatitis-A is curable and can be prevented. Hepatitis-A is transmitted through human feces. Even though Hepatitis-A has many symptoms, most of the time a person doesn’t even know that they have been affected. The symptoms include: Feeling tired, muscle soreness, upset stomach, fever, loss of appetite, stomach pain, diarrhea, dark-yellow urine, light-colored stools, and yellowish eyes and skin (called jaundice). Hepatitis-A is diagnosed by going to the doctor and taking a blood test. There isn’t really any kind of treatment for the Hepatitis-A virus. Hepatitis-A can last a few weeks or a few months just depending on a person’s immune system. To help prevent a person from getting hepatitis-A is to get a vaccination shot at the doctor’s office. The vaccine is administered in two different shots. Most people get vaccinated when they are child. How does one get Hepatitis-A? Well Hepatitis-A is transmitted through food and water. Here are a few different ways a person can get the Hepatitis-A virus. They are: Eating food made by an infected person who didn’t wash his or her hands after using the bathroom. Drinking untreated water or eating food that has been made with untreated water. Placing a finger or object in your mouth that came into contact with an infected persons stool or having close personal contact with someone that has already infected with the Hepatitis-A virus, such as having sex. If you get the virus, your body automatically starts to fight back. Your immune system knows that it is being attacked so your immunity system fights back all on its own.
