Louis Joliet: Joliet was born circa 1645 near Quebec, New France. Joliet was a 17th century French Canadian explorer who supported explores the origins of the Mississippi River. Joliet is known for his discoveries in North America. On to his later years Joliet married Claire- Francoise Byssot de la Valtrie, who was also Canadian. Around his time North America was still a very wild place, many people hoped to find a passageway to Asia around the Western Regions due to lack of explorations.

Sieur de La Salle was a French explorer and is known for exploring the Great Lakes región of the United States and Canadá.
