Many athletes get a sense of reward after winning a game and getting trophy, this feeling of reward is caused by Dopamine which is a neurotransmitter that controls the brain’s pleasure/reward center, regulates movement, and it regulates emotional responses. On the downside Dopamine can be altered by one of the most highly addictive drug known as Heroin. Heroin is a highly addictive opiate that is made from morphine (Hyde and Setaro, 141). The use of Heroin releases increased amounts of Dopamine which creates a feeling of pleasure to users. To them they feel as if they are doing something right, this drug is very concerning because it does not only messes you up physically but it also messes you up psychologically. The short-term effects is having a dry mouth, flushing of the skin, heavy feeling, clouded mentality, and being in a conscious and semiconscious state also known as being “on the nod” (NIDA, 7). All of these are caused right after injecting heroin, these effects are only temporary. But for temporary effects these things are pretty scary, right? Of course when you use Heroin you feel pleasure but you are destroying your body. I will be surprised if most addicts last to an elderly age. Studies has showed that they only last to their
