I saw Dr. Hodge two weeks ago for a follow-up appointment. I was recovering from a bout of the flu, and in hindsight, I should have postponed this appointment for a later date. I was not feeling well enough to ask and discuss everything I would have liked. While a lot of good happened from my procedure in November, there are still a couple of concerns which I voiced to Dr. Hodge.
One is the incision/scar directly under my left earlobe. It seems there is a knot or a loop of internal suture material that is under the earlobe. The area is raised, and although the threads are not visible, I can feel the internal sutures with my fingernail, because some of it is at the surface of my skin. Before Christmas, a sharp piece of the suture …show more content…
Hodge, and he said it seemed to be healing, and I agree. If I felt better, I would have asked about what to expect. The scar does not seem to be maturing because it has foreign matter embedded in the skin. I have not seen improvement and at one point before Christmas, it got worse. I had one place after the mini lift that had a piece of thread embedded in the skin. It took a few months, but it finally went away. There is a lot more material concentrated in this new area though. Will the suture material eventually dissolve and the scar flatten? I'm worried that the scar with be raised and won't look …show more content…
Hodge carefully measures and attempts symmetry, but for some reason, after the procedure, I could feel much less fat on one side than the other. The fat that is transferred initially feels hard under the skin, and I could feel where it was placed. I could feel how the fat on the left side was placed in front of the earlobe, under the ridge, and that it also wrapped around my jawbone. This amount of fat helped hide the ridge and the overall look to be natural. It reminds me of how I used to look. On the right, after the procedure, I did not feel the same amount of fat, nor the same placement of fat in front of the ear and surrounding the jawbone. I thought some of what I was feeling soon after the procedure was swelling from the earlobe revision, but it turned to be the fat that was transferred after
