In the book Nothing But The Truth by Avi many hidden agendas are revealed. Philip is a ninth grader at Harrison High who enjoys running track, but does not enjoy doing school work. Philip believes his English teacher, Miss Narwin, is out to get him, so when she gets him suspended for singing the Star Spangled Banner he knew he was right. Philip turns to his dad for help but all he does is give the issue to Ted Griffin, who is running for school board. Mr. Malloy, Philip’s dad, and Ted Griffin are left to decide what to do with the situation and what they do is not for Philip’s benefit.
