Throughout my time here at Alma, I have done a large portion of high quality work throughout the years, but one assignment that I'm very proud of was in my 8th grade class at ELA. I wrote an essay about a book we read as a class called Of Mice and Men. I had to reflect and see the differences, demonstrate an understanding of migrant workers, and the great depression. Complexity means challenging a student to apply, analyze, evaluate, and create. Moreover, it also indicates the thoughts of thinking and figuring out how to explain your work. My on-demand essay talks about two migrant workers who travel together to conquer their dream. While on this journey they faced difficult situations and during this time it was the Great Depression. The character Lennie has a disability and therefore the character George has to look after him and make sure Lennie doesn’t get into trouble. Unfortunately, there was a murder, and it was done by Lennie. My writing piece has incorporated the skill of complexity because I had to use my outside knowledge of choosing a side to prove that if the death of Curley’s wife had not occurred, Lennie and George would not have attained their goals.
