Sitting in the cold doctor's office after continuous knee pain, waiting for answers. Thoughts of if I could step foot back on the wrestling mat again fulling my mind. My mom and I waiting for the doctor to come out with results from the x-ray, cold and anxious. I was diagnosed with Chondromalacia patella and arthritis discontinuing my wrestling career. Little did I know, it would change my life tremendously in many ways. At that time, I didn’t let an injury hold back my potential but stepped up to a leadership role as the Moanalua High School wrestling team manager. I didn’t think not being able to wrestle would affect my friendship with my best friends. Knowing there would be alcohol and drugs involved, I denied the invitation. From that day forward, I was mistreated by the girls I once called my sisters. Their popularity grew as there were more and more rumors spread about me. Besides all that Junior year came along as I attended Waipahu high school the opportunities were endless early college, preparation for the ACT and SAT, Academy of Health and Science, and mock interviews.

Although in the beginning knowing that I don’t know anyone at Waipahu it would be a challenge to fit in but it turned out to be the total opposite I began building relationships with people who were just as academically driven as me. My true identity was unraveling in front my eyes, it taught me a lot about the person that I am. These experiences brought out the leader I am because although my friends wanted to make bad decisions I didn’t follow
