Patrick Healy, a correspondent covering the 2016 Presidential campaign for the New York times writes that Mrs. Clinton intends to funnel $350 billion of government funds into public universities over a ten year period. According to Clinton’s political page, this money would make tuition incredibly low if not free for students who attend public universities in their state of residency and lower interest rates on student loans. Additionally, Louis Jacobson, senior writer for Poltifacts in the Tampa Bay Times states that Hillary aims to make the first two years of community colleges free in order to make it easier to receive a college degree. Mrs. Clinton once said when talking in a small town in New Hampshire:
“We need to make a quality education affordable and available to everyone willing to work for it without saddling them with decades of debt. I want every parent to know that his or her child can get a degree or you can get one yourself (Meckler and Mitchell).”
