Life in ancient India consisted of following the Dharma, and believing in karma. The Dharma is a list of rules one must follow. If Indians followed their Dharma, then they would receive good karma. Karma was what Indians believe decided their fate. One’s Dharma depended on their caste.
Social conditions in ancient India contained a caste system. The caste system determined everything about one’s life; including where they lived, what job they had, and how educated they were (Rosas, 18). The highest caste was Brahman, they were priests and descendants of priests. The next highest caste was Kshatrya, they were warriors. Following, came Vaisya, they were merchants. It is known more as a family of religions rather than just one religion (Klostermaier, 31). It is the world’s oldest religion and is still being practiced today. Hinduism has no founder (Morgan, 3).
It is found that tribal people have been practicing Hinduism since the Aryans invaded India. Aryans were Nomadic tribal people from Central Asia. They were lighter skin compared to Indians and they spoke an Indo-European language. They arrived in India and conquered the Harappan civilization, which was in the Indus River area. The Aryans were more advanced than the Indians in the way that they used iron weapons, which allowed them to easily conquer India.
Hinduism evolved from Vedas, a series of writings. Hindus primarily followed the Veda scriptures. The Vedas contained ancient knowledge followers of Hinduism wanted to learn. There were over ten scriptures with sub-texts in
