My chosen tactic to the interpretation of the literature of the famed tragedy Hamlet, will be a mixture of Historical Criticism and Gender Criticism. My goal for this research essay, is to fully comprehend and appreciate the literary work and the roles that woman had during this time period. I will do so by thoroughly investigating the social, cultural, and intellectual context of the time that Hamlet was produced. By the use of, Gender Criticism, I will examine how gender identity had an impact on this literacy piece and I will scrutinize the arrogances against woman and that historically there was no such thing as total equality. I would like to research the facts that during the medieval times, it was well-thought-out that it was outrageous and shameful for woman to go on stage and preform and as an effect, acting was considered a man’s profession because of that label all of the woman’s roles were played by men. …show more content…
As a third method of research, TJC’s library offers a range of books like, Women as Hamlet: Performance and Interpretation in Theatre, Film and Fiction. I will use this additional research to help me fully digest the reviews and interpretation of Hamlet, getting a better insight of the roles woman played during this time period verses now in the 20th century. By using previous knowledge, Prude Owl’s Online Writing Lab and by TJC’s writing center, I will insure the proper citation of all sources used within my paper and the works cited
