There are two ways in which Jesus is seen, one of which is the Historical Jesus and one is as the Glorified Christ. These two sides of Jesus, in my opinion have different interpretations including the way in which people of the christian faith view and relate to Jesus as the son of man and as the son of God. Historical Jesus according to those in Latin America and Caribbean is “ a starting point, including his life, his mission, and his fate” (Ferraro 114). This means to me that the historical Jesus is the understanding and view of Jesus throughout the time period in which he lived, including the cultural and historical norms in which he lived. The historical Jesus is the person who most people can agree he was. The reconstruction of the historical Jesus then is looking at everything about Jesus’ life that can be backed up by historical evidence. This means that everything Jesus did that was not of human capabilities is therefore not of importance according to those who study the historical Jesus because it cannot necessarily be proven. It also means then that it is hard for those who study the historical Jesus to look to the Bible for examples of the historical Jesus because a lot of the accounts of Jesus are of him doing things that can not be explained naturally. The Glorified christ is the one who died on the cross for our salvation and then resurrected from the dead. The glorified Christ is the one in my opinion and distinction who performed miracles, who walked on water, and who rose people from the dead. He is the one who the christian faith is centered around and who in order to be christian we believe in. When we say we believe in the glorified christ we are saying we believe in the one who is unworldly and who can heal us of our human condition.
