The ethical code would be for my business “Sweet Treats”, which is an ice cream and sandwich shop. For my business code of ethics I would like to include safety, integrity, no smoking, no drugs, no alcohol, and customer focus. An ethical code of conduct is a document that may outline the mission and values of a business or organization, it will include how professionals are supposed to act when they approach problems (Code Of Ethics Definition). The ethics are the guiding, morals, principles, values and beliefs. Ethics also indicate what inappropriate behavior is and how a person should behave to avoid doing harm to others (University of Phoenix, 2007). Safety:
I have chosen safety first, because it is what would set the tone. Safety would include all equipment should be handled according to the directions. All personnel will be trained to handle all equipment safely and responsibly. Everyone should use the equipment for its intended use and nothing else, for it could cause harm. Integrity:
The company should come first to all personnel. The team should be honest and respectful to one another. They should be able to trust and be trusted. All of the team should be valued, and when they contribute ideas, it will be considered. All employees should not be afraid to make complaints to the manager. This establishment is built with the word “Team” in mind, therefore all employees will be treated with respect. There is no “I” in team, so we must all work together in good harmony. No Smoking:
Sweet Treats has a strict “No Smoking “policy. There is to be no smoking in or around the facility. There will be marked smoking spots that will be designated for anyone who smokes. 2nd hand smoke also kills, so smoking of any kind will not be tolerated. Drugs and Alcohol:
The use of drugs and alcohol is strictly prohibited. All employees will be required to take a pre-employment drug test. Another will be administered if the employee shows signs of erratic behavior, mood swings and changes in attitude towards the job.
