National flags sometimes change over time, usually reflecting a major change in the country's constitutional arrangements or government. Australia′s flag has changed many times. Our present flag dates from only 1901. The Australian National Flag stands for freedom of speech, parliamentary democracy, rule of law, egalitarianism and the courage and sacrifice of the ANZACS. It also represents our geographic position in the southern hemisphere with the Southern Cross while the Commonwealth Star represents Australia's federation of States and Territories. There only some aspects of of the flag that refer to Australia’s history.
Even though our current flag shows a little bit of our history. The current Australian flag is not a true reflection of aboriginals and the multicultural communities we live in. I am of the strong belief that the current Australian flag is not a true and inclusive representation of all Australians - especially the countries …show more content…
Australia and New Zealand situated in the Southern Hemisphere, represented by the Southern Cross, and sharing a common European origin (Union Jack). Such similarities are therefore a very weak argument for change. The New Zealand flag features four red stars with white borders whereas the Australian flag features six white star. The flag is too much the same and no one can even identify our flag anymore.
The Australian flag debate is a periodic question over whether the Australian flag should be changed, particularly to remove the Union Jack from the canton, but also to possibly introduce a completely new design without the Southern Cross. People have many ideas for new design that will truly make our country easily identified, signifies the aboriginals and doesn’t link to the Britain. my flag it is such a good example because I show the importance of the aboriginals and torrisstairislander and I show some of cultural aspects in my flag
