This movie is about the person named Alex Hitch who is a professional love consultant. He coaches his clients, the best way to attract the women’s attention. Albert Brennaman is one of his client who is in love with a client of his investment firm, Allegra Cole. During this period, Hitch himself fell in love with Sara Melas. Everything goes well until the guy named Vance Munson blame Hitch to help him land a one night stand with Sara’s best friend, Casey Sedgewick. This eventually cause misunderstanding between Hitch and Sara. She exposes him causing Allegra and Albert to break up. Finally Hitch is able to explain everything to Sara that he was not involved in that evil plot of Vance Munson. He then tries to salvage Albert and Allegra's

The concept of Social self and self-esteem is highly focused. Attraction and love, attribution, attitude and persuasion, relationships, aggression, prosocial behavior, stereotypes and social influence are the major aspect of social psychology that is illustrated in the movie. Most of the people tend to conceptualize “self” as something within themselves that is stable over time in different situation. Hitch is the person who influence people, with his thoughts and persuasion, changes their perception on how they see themselves. He encourages his clients to gain high self-esteem and confidence. He uses the basic dimension of attitudes, that is cognitive, emotional and behavioral, to attract women’s attention. His act of persuasion is actually effective in altering the behavior of his clients because of his credibility and logical & clear messages. Hitch is willing to help his clients for their benefits. Hence he shows prosocial behavior and altruism. ‘Relationship’ is beautifully presented in this movie. Internal personal attraction, proximity, similarity, mutual/reciprocal liking are some of the factors that brings Hitch and Sara together. The relationship starts with friendship and later developed to the intimacy, commitment and passion. The misunderstanding that occurred between them after the interval, results in aggression.
