Hoarders Compulsive hoarding is a pattern of behavior that is characterized by the excessive acquisition of and inability or unwillingness to discard large quantities of objects that cover the living areas of the home and cause significant distress and impairment. Hoarding can be describes as a hobby to some people or a disease. Hoarding can cause very bad habits, ruin relationships, or cause stress. This is where the disorders can come into place. Hoarding is not a disorder in the DSM IV-R but to most people it is considered a major disorder. When people hoard, they most likely keep memories or simply have the bad habit of keeping things. Things could be separated in piles neatly or thrown around because of being mad or angry with maybe everything. Hoarding could cause major disorders such as major depression, OCD, bipolar disorders, generalized anxiety disorders, and panic disorders. These can be solved but it takes a lot of work and determination. Depression can cause abnormal crying, looking over old memories, or hoarding maybe. Depression can be treated by ECT, It will be a procedure done by a doctor that connects sticky things to your head that kill brain cells that may be causing some depression, I would recommend it because it is very successful. OCD can be abnormal cleanliness, or abnormal sorting. It can be treated by cognitive therapy which focuses on finding other key things to focus on than that habit.
