Synthesizing Articles Two articles that can be synthesized are What You Lookin’ at, Willis? By Curtis Holmes and All Stories are Refugees from Dangerous Lands By Luis Alberto Urrea. “Synthesizing is the process of bringing together ideas and information from multiple sources in order to discover patterns and gain new insights and perspectives.” Both are articles that can be compared with elements of their stereotypes, tone, credibility of authors, and the purpose of each article. They both share qualities of being the minority in today's society, but are both seen and treated differently.

Both authors share stories of different ways people are stereotyped. However, they are different because Holmes’s article was narrated in the first person point of view. Reading from the first person point of view makes the reader feel more of the emotions, whereas, Urrea is telling the story in the third person point of view and the story of Alex is not his personal experience which makes the reader feel for Alex, but not as much as if it were to be in the first person point of view. Both authors are credible and hold authority on the subject they are writing about. They are both very passionate and seem aggravated towards the stereotypes. They are also very credible authors, however, Holmes credibility is higher due to his article being written in first person narrative. It adds more credibility because when reading their story first handed, it shows it from their exact perspective. Holmes wants his readers to understand how it is like to be in his shoes. He gave his audience just a glimpse of what it is like to be an African American male. How people have treated him differently and how it has affected him as an individual. Just like African American males, very many other immigrants are hard workers and want a better lifestyle here in America that maybe they couldn’t get in their native country. Many immigrants find it to be that America has a better education system and they want to get their education here. Some start by working small jobs that help citizens such as mowing lawns, babysitting, farming, or cleaning. They assist in jobs that many people don't typically want to do, which plays an important role in today’s society. Others further their education to be an engineer, doctor, teacher, etc. They are not here to steal jobs, but rather to help America progress as a nation and be the help that this country and the citizens might
