According to “The Pear”, “I am out in the sunshine eating a pear just like any normal girl who isn’t Jewish in Poland on a regular day,”. This means that fruit and sweets helps this girl forget about the holocaust and what's happening to her. It also helps her get over the holocaust she wanted her sister to enjoy this delightful fruit. Also in “The Pear”, “There is no stopping now. At this moment there are no Germans no worries. There is only me and this pear.” The pear makes her forget about the Germans around her. How I know this because it says this in the excerpt A Snowman “There was no more yelling or calling out, but they could not contain the small snaches of laughter. They were only humans, playing in the snow, in a house.” This means being around nature helps this family get through the holocaust. Also in A snowman “Often I wish this would all be over, Liesel, but then somehow you do something like walk down the basement steps with a snowman in your hands.” This matters because it states how they kind of want the holocaust to happen for ever if it like this every day.
