Our documentary will be called Homebound. This film will be a full-length reflexive documentary shown on CBC and later on distributed to Netflix. It will follow five people of different Asian descent, ages, and genders from across Canada. They will be second generation children born from immigrant parents. We will take these people on a one-week trip to their homeland, which they’ve never been to before. This film will reveal the truths about their immigrant parents’ cultures, and whether they adapt or drift away from it. It will present an extremely groundbreaking, eye opening revelation that will get people wondering about their own true identity and roots. The participants will be able to experience what they have missed out on all the years, and cultural facts and traditions that they have been so unaware of. Homebound will dig deep into culture and the participants will be immersed deeply in their heritage. Viewers will emotionally connect to the stories of the people presented in the film because they are real people who have lived their lives surrounded by the Canadian lifestyle. As Canadians, we all come from what one may call our different “foreign roots”. Through this film, viewers will reflect on the lifestyles they live and uncover a unique connection between them and their heritage. This production will help people develop more knowledge about their lost backgrounds that most have chosen to not engage in. It will also draw them closer to their families, especially their immigrant parents, and create more understanding about their origin. This part is the revelation. The participants retell their favourite moments from the trip. They also share new things that they learned and discovered. They express whether the trip made them realize how connected they are to their roots or how they are not connected at all. They state how they felt and feel about the trip, the culture, and the realizations that occurred. The music we are including in this part is nostalgic, sentimental, and slow. This part ends with a clip of a busy airport in fast-forward mode. This clip runs for 30 seconds. The screen goes black. Subsequently, the exact same title card from the beginning with the title (Homebound) and the creators’ names appears to conclude the film. The credits roll, listing the names of the participants, their parents, the crew, and everyone involved in the documentary. The sponsors and special appreciations and acknowledgements are also included in the roll. The music playing during the credits is a nostalgic yet cheery music that leaves the audience with mixed feelings about the
