Seeing that it made them happy by looking at a picture makes me feel good. There are also videos online of people bringing food to people on the streets and those videos make most people who watch it feel better, considering how many retweets or likes the video gets. It is said all the time, but if everyone in barrie were to donate at least $2 to Christmas Cheer they would easily make their goal of $250,000. The population of Barrie is 197,059 (Population of metropolitan Barrie) and 197,059 doubled is $394,118. She is an activist who was homeless for over a year when she was younger and because of that she has many opinions towards homelessness. There were so many reasons why people would rather sleep on the streets than in a homeless shelter and in my opinion this was one of the most interesting parts. Some of the following reasons are there are no pets allowed (even some service dogs), denied entry due to mental illness, discrimination against LGBTQ people, separation of family members (women and men kept separate sometimes) and danger of theft (Shay, 2017). That is only a few of some of the reasons of why people may not stay in a shelter, so much of society focuses on getting more people into shelters and getting the shelter resources, but not a huge amount of people are focused on bettering the conditions.
