Homeless College students in West Tennessee
One of the most important phases in life is College. It determines your job, salary, and most importantly your future. Going to college is a new experience for everyone but what if you are homeless? Being homeless adds a totally new lifestyle in college but thankfully today there are multiple organizations and colleges that are willing to help. Most organizations today will try to distribute scholarships and some will even offer housing free of charge if they meet the requirements.
Going to college is what you make it. For most it is an eye opener to what life is really like, for others its somewhere to have freedom, but for everyone it is a time to learn who they are and what they want to do with their lives. Most people go to college with some sort of financial aid to help with paying for college but what if someone did not have the same opportunities and was homeless? That is an actual reality in today’s world. According to the FASFA, 58,000 people filed homeless this year alone. That means that there are people out there that are trying to make a difference in their lives and …show more content…
The NAEHCY is such a great organization because of what they do for students such as scholarships and even have partners that offer housing for students that cannot afford it. On their website they have multiple scholarships and even podcast to help with all their needs. There is also another opportunity that colleges even in West Tennessee are offering, year round dorms. They open up their dorms for all year and allow people to stay there with an extra cost which could be covered by the NAEHCY scholarships. With these organizations there are opportunities for homeless students to get a hold of and use but there also many changes that could be made to make everything more available for
