In the article why students should ditch honor codes written by Susan H. Greenberg, the writer writes about how universities have strict rules over plagiarism. The main idea in her article is to convince colleges and universities to be less hard on students or to reconsider on renewing the rules on honor codes. She is defending her idea by saying that nowadays, in a world where technology is everywhere, that the sharing of ideas is more easy and common than before. ‘Honor codes that rigidly define and punish “cheating” in classrooms have become impractical and antiquated.plagarism can be confusing sometimes.
The author in the article criticizes honor codes, and states that they should be updated. While she can be right, her arguments are questionable, due of the fact that she contradicts herself, and makes many assumptions and giving her own point of view. She uses pathos and ethos most of the time, but she does not uses logic and on topics like this she should use it more than the other two.
