Have you ever felt ungrateful for the simplest things in life? Well, that's what I will be sharing about The Contender by Robert Lipsyte and Hoop Dreams by Steve James. In the book called Contender it’s about a boy who dedicates his life to wrestling and in the movie called “Hoop Dreams” it’s about a boy who dedicates his life to basketball.

In this essay I am going to be comparing Alfred from the “Contender” and William from “Hoop Dreams”. A few comparisons I will be talking about are , how both neighborhoods have drug dealers and poor families and both work hard and never give up at sports. Another Comparison/ Difference is that Alfred dropped out of school and William didnt.
