Men offering support to women may seem generous but are trying to be protective to show their dominance over females inferring that women’s role in society represents them as inferior to men. The more preferred term of sexism is ambivalent sexism which categorizes into hostile sexism and benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is a positive stereotypical attitude towards women whereas hostile sexism is a negative stereotypical attitude towards women. Benevolent sexism despite its positive factors is harmful in many ways by leading to cause hostile sexism, an increase in discrimination that restricts women's engagement in society and having an effect on their performance which further limits their chances of advancement.
