I remember when I was in kindergarten how I did not enjoy reading, and for that reason I nearly failed kindergarten. The following year I was still showing a lack of improvement in reading and reading comprehension, my teacher saw this and decided to give me books to read nearly every day. As I read more and more books I realized how fascinating reading was and I decided to read more often, and as I continue to read I began to realize that the situations in which characters in the book had been facing could be applied to real life. …show more content…
I'd completely resonated with the novel The House on Mango Street in the way that I wanted to leave the home I was living in, yet I did not want to say goodbye to its memories. Later on my dad had introduced me to his old College literature book in it were full plays and stories from famous authors, I didn't know where to start at the time that he had given me that book so I looked in the index and I decided that I just wanted to start reading Shakespeare's Hamlet. The first time I had read Hamlet I had only caught the gist of it while some innuendos and philosophical teachings had flown past me, the second time I had read Hamlet I began to notice the subtle jokes and meanings of things that I did not know before; after that I found Hamlet to still be a tragedy but also a comedy and even laughed at some of Hamlet's innuendos. One day I remember skipping through some pages of the old literature textbook and I came across the Poetry section of the book, it was in that textbook where I came across my favorite poets and their philosophies.
