The 1990s were a relatively peaceful time, but the Hollywood industry changed drastically during this decade. There were more movies on African American then ever. This decade had many great Black filmmakers, like Spike Lee, Mario Van Peebles, and John Singleton, which were some of the most memorable filmmakers from this decade. John Singleton’s Boyz N the Hood (1991) showed the gang violence in streets of South Central Los Angeles. Other films like the Jungle Fever and Clockers were some of the best works of Spike Lee and it really captured the lives of African Americans.
