Alain Locke was a philanthropist who captured the hope and optimism of people who discovered “a new vision for opportunity” during the Harlem Renaissance. He pointed out how it is vital for self-expression, racial pride, and self-discovery for African Americans. Locke believed that embracing a new cultural identity and celebrating African American achievements would empower individuals and challenge the status quo.
