Jackson, born on March 15, 1767, experienced hardships growing up. His father died before his birth. By the time Jackson grew to the age of 14, his brothers and mother had passed. Jackson experienced little education other than the few trips he made to the local school house, and his own self teaching. Everything that Jackson accomplished in his early age happened from the fruits of his own labor. Unlike other Presidents, Jackson represented the common man. The hardships that Jackson weathered tempered him into a candidate of the people. Jackson’s background helped to transform the presidency since for the first time, a man who lacked wealth and family ties persevered his way into the most powerful government position in America. The election of a common, half-educated man never materialized before president Jackson. Due to the election of a common man like Jackson, many presidents after would claim to hail from the lower classes in pursuit of voter recognition and
