Women Contribution

Brenton- Women made many contributions during the revolution. Some of the women were spies who would help the patriot cause.

Zach- While some were camp followers who tended to washing, cooking, mending clothes, and providing medical help.

Brenton- Some iconic women during the Revolutionary War were Molly Pitcher and Margaret Corbin.

Zach- According to legend, when Pitcher’s husband, artillerymen William Hayes, was shot and killed at The Battle of Monmouth, she took his position in the gun crew for the rest of the battle. Another legend includes Pitcher carrying water to cool not only the cannon, but also the gun crew.

Brenton- She applied for a soldier's widow pension after the war but instead the state of Pennsylvania
