They are many reasons as to why McCandless was thought to be crazy and in the book Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer. I agree with Callarman’s argument that McCandless was irresponsible for going into the wilderness. He preceded his decision without any preparation or knowledge about how to survive in the wild. He was ignorant for renouncing all the opportunities of the American Dream to have the risk of Disease and death by starvation. McCandless was ignorant for going into the wild. “I believe that Chris was overzealous and overconfident that he would live in communion with the land. He was grossly unprepared, and engaged in reckless behavior.” He abandoned his money instead of keeping it just in case he could not survive in the wild. He
