The Civil War: Weapons and how soldiers used them (RD)

The civil war was the bloodiest and the most deadly war ever fought by the United States. The most interesting part of the Civil War was the weapons soldiers used on the battlefield. There were many types of guns in the CW, but guns are not the only thing that soldiers used. They used unique military equipment that was kept and improved. We can see the improved CW weapons in our military today.

One of the new weapons used was the repeating rifle. The most commonly used one was the Spencer Repeating Rifle. This weapon is capable of taking someone down at around 500 yards. It fired 7 times before you had to reload. A popular name for the gun was “The gun you loaded on Sunday and fired all week”. It fired 14 to 20 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). The rifle was 47 inches long and weighed 10 pounds, which was a big gun for its time. It was built and manufactured from 1960 to 1969.
