Emperor of the Qin dynasty Shi Huangdi ruled from 221 BCE to 206 BCE. Although he was young when he came to power at age thirteen he instructed a hash government to keep order among his empire. During the 15 years that he had ruled over he was arguably China’s greatest, most efficient ruler during that time. In addition he set a stellar pathway for later rulers of later generations. Emperor of the Qin dynasty Shi Huangdi unified Ancient China by organizing the economy and establishing a system of protection. Although he was a young emperor the people worshiped him for controlling the empire and unifying the people. Shi Huangdi which literally means “First Emperor”

He enforced a tax system over the empire and the coinage system requiring little copper coins with a small hole in the center which would be spread across all of China. In addition, other milestone achievements that he’d passed throughout his rule over the country such as pottery or even aligning cart axles with the road to make traveling easier(3). As other early civilizations did in ancient times the Qin used an irrigation system to prevent floods and save the rich topsoil of the land fertile for peasants who grew herbs for medicines(3). At a very young age he had to learn how to attack different states and used different tactics such as targeting the stronger of the seven states first before conquering the less powerful states. He was also a role model for people around the country and was also well educated, which was an important character trait for a young leader to possess. Shi Huangdi brought about the construction of the Great Wall of China which was an enormous project because of the amount of people involved and the time people devoted to this project under the ruler's command. Also, during the time of the Qin dynasty an improvement that was enforced in schools and over the empire was Chinese writing(1). During the short span of Shi Huangdi’s rule he was able to accomplish many things and enforce strict laws that kept Chinese people to good behavior(3). An agricultural calendar that was created to help peasants during the harvest season helped them plan the layout of the crops and timing to assure that the civilization had a surplus of food. In many other civilizations formed around the same time they used the same method to plan their crops. Although China was isolated by various manmade features the Chinese people were able to control trade and reach out to different areas or regions(4). After the death of Shi Huangdi thousands of Teracotta warriors were built to help protect the tomb of Shi Huangdi.
