I found that learning about Black Christianity increased my understanding of Equiano’s journey. When Equiano had described the African American culture inside the beginning of his narrative, he had mentioned that the people of Guinea believed that there was only a single creator. They believed that the creator lived in the sun, and they also believed that their loved ones protected them from their foes in the form of spirits.
