The equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius is a long-lasting statue, which is considered to be lucky out of so many statues that were melted down during the ancient times and reused for the creation of other materials. It has witnessed the city’s fame, as well as its moments of decline, and its Renaissance rebirth. The statue of this man was an important idea in the Renaissance because it brought forward the idea of humanism, recognizing the achievements and hard work as good deeds of an individual, all shown in a portrait. It influenced artists later on, including Donatello with his work of art named Gattemelata, as well as Verrocchio with the Equestrian Monument of Bartolommeo Colleoni, and many more.
