George Balanchine was a famous ballet choreographer. He was originally from Russia, but he immigrated to the United States in 1933, looking for more opportunities. He started his working career by choreographing for small places. After a while, he left, because he wanted to start something larger. Following this he co-founded the very popular School or American Ballet, or SAB in 1934. He also founded The American Ballet Theater, or ABT, in 1935 which is now the most popular ballet company in the United States.
