In Jacques Cartier’s early life he sailed to North America. Like every other explorer he was looking for gold, spices, and a shortcut to Asia; instead he found the Saint Lawrence River.That became France’s main route to Canada. Jacques Cartier’s famous exploration happened when he sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to what is now Canada .When he got there he and his crew explored around the Gulf of Saint Lawrence.They encountered some Native Americans and on the way back to France he took two Native Americans with him.
