Because John Andre was a great leader he influenced the American Revolution by shaping our National Identity about Courage. John Andre was a british military officer during the Revolutionary War, he was very courageous and he was a great leader for the British. He was born May 2, 1750 and died October 2, 1780. His job was to negotiate with Benedict Arnold, who was the commander of West Point. West point is located on a plateau on the west bank of the Hudson River approximately sixty miles north of New York City. On September 25, 1780. He and Arnold met face-to-face behind American lines to arrange the turn over of the fort. While he was returning from the meeting he was found with the plans to the fort hidden in his boot by an American patrol.
